Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 17, 2026

1. Introduction

Cruelty-Free Compass ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our Chrome Extension. We believe in complete transparency and minimal data collection.

2. Data Collection

We do not collect any personal identification information (PII) such as your name, email address, or physical address.

Our extension only activates when you visit specific e-commerce URLs (e.g., amazon.com). It scans the product information on the page to cross-reference it with our database of cruelty-free brands. This process happens locally on your device or via anonymous API calls that do not track your identity.

3. Browsing History

We do not track, store, or sell your browsing history. The extension permission "Read and change all your data on the websites you visit" is strictly required for the extension to function (i.e., to read product names on Amazon and display the ethical status). We do not access data on sites outside of the supported shopping platforms.

4. Third-Party Services

We may use anonymous analytics tools (like Google Analytics for non-identifiable usage stats) to improve the performance of the extension. These tools do not track your browsing habits across the web.
